Beauty Is In The (Artists) Eye

Noted with interest a piece in The Scottish Field...

With high praise it highlights a new book called "A Capital Vew - The Art of Edinburgh" by Alyssa Jean Popiel.

In it Alyssa features 100 pieces of art (chosen from 4500) by artists like Alexander Naysmith, Anne Redpath and others.

She's documenting the history of 'Auld Reekie' via it's art since the Enlightenment up until now.

I like your thinking Alyssa.

Unusual.

Did the treasures in your mother's Corstorphine antique shop help shape your vision differently from the average art historian?

Hmm, also made me think...

We've got art for 'The Auld Grey Toun' a plenty too.

Then,

As if to underline this very thought, we just got an email from local artist Chloe Ireland...

She produces amazing paintings like this black and white acrylic on canvas of the AbbeyGate...

(We can't wait to feature Chloe's work properly - watch this space).

Then of course there's the immensely talented Cara Shanely who we debuted here recently.

(You can view and buy her cards and calendars securely in the Visit Dunfermline App)...

There we are then...

Local artists.

Do you know one?

Do they want a bigger reach?

If so give us a shout, we want you to have a voice, a platform and simply...

GET YOUR ART OUT in 2022 and beyond :)

Here's to that vision!
