Donald Adamson

Visit Dunfermline Writer

Hi,

I'm Donald Adamson.

And I'm...

A teller of Tall Tales.

From a very ordinary but incredibly interesting Dunfermline family. Probably just like yours.

Dad born in Halbeath and Mum in Rosyth.

A degree in history led inevitably to a career in accountancy. Then emerging from behind the abacus, did a PhD in archaeology.

(The archaeology of cattle droving as you’re asking).

Sometime company non-executive Chairman.

Pars fan and family historian.

Author/Editor of...

  • A study on Culross and the Moat Pit.
  • The British Horse Racing Board’s guide to Taxation (2006), two excavation reports on Highland droving inns.
  • A study of the facts behind the foundation of Erskine Beveridge & Co.
  • A bunch of family stories which illustrate the extraordinary lives of working Scottish people in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Range of interests are broad, but for Visit Dunfermline, I will be seeking to interest you in family history and how to record it by way of story-telling.

And oh yes before I forget...

Watch out for the Dunfermline historical crime novel.

All the best.

Donald Adamson.
